George Poulakidas focuses on the ethical, environmental, economic, legal and social aspects of life sciences. George is passionate about engaging with stakeholders and translating research into policy and practice.

Having worked in various roles in the intersection of innovation, social impact and public policy, George brings multiple perspectives to the organization and his role in policy and societal engagement. His previous role was Senior Advisor at the Ontario Ministry of Economic Development, Job Creation and Trade. Other previous roles include researcher at the Innovation Policy Lab at the Munk School of Global Affairs and Public Policy and an intern at the United Nations in New York.

George holds a PhD and a MA in Political Science from the University of Toronto. His dissertation research focused on collaborative strategies and policies in cutting-edge innovation and was supported by multiple awards, including the SSHRC Doctoral Scholarship. He also holds an Associate of Arts Degree in Anthropology from Douglas College and a Bachelor’s degree in International Studies from Simon Fraser University.

George has taught at the University of Toronto and the University of British Columbia.
