Genome BC created the Societal Issues Competition as a way to recognize the need for stand-alone research projects that study genomics and society. Previous intakes explored societal issues emerging from genomics based innovations.
As genomics has become more socialized, this intake focuses on adoption of genomic tools in one specific area identified as having potential in conservation and resource management efforts: Pacific salmon fisheries
