Dr. Ben Koop is a renowned genomics expert and Professor of Biology at the University of Victoria, with more than 30 years of experience advancing molecular evolution and genetic research. A Fellow of the Royal Society of Canada, Koop has led major national and international initiatives exploring biodiversity, immunity, and aquatic health. His groundbreaking work in salmon genomics has shaped policies and practices in both wild and farmed fisheries. With over 200 scientific publications and numerous awards, including the Genome BC Award for Scientific Excellence, he is recognized as a leader in applying genomics for the public good.
