Karima Bawa is a leader in intellectual property strategy and innovation policy, focused on advancing the commercialization of Canadian research. A Senior Fellow at the Centre for International Governance Innovation, she brings experience on public and private sector boards and currently serves as Chair of the Board for IP Ontario and on the Board of the College of Patent Agents and Trademark Agents.
With a background spanning science, law and business, including degrees from Simon Fraser University, the University of British Columbia and certification through the the Rotman Directors Education Program, she is recognized for strengthening Canada’s innovation ecosystem through practical IP leadership.

Genome BC has attracted over $1.1 billion in direct co-investment to the province, contributing to funding more than 600 genomics research and innovation projects.
