Genome British Columbia is pleased to announce the appointment of Dr. Mel Krajden to our Board of Directors
Dr. Mel Krajden is a Medical Microbiologist researcher at the BC Centre for Disease Control (BCCDC). He is the former Medical Director of the BCCDC Public Health Laboratory and Medical Head of Hepatitis at BCCDC. He is also a professor in the UBC Department of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine. Dr. Krajden is considered a world leader in infectious disease epidemiology and phylogenetics research, focusing on translating research into public health policy. Dr. Krajden has received numerous awards and recognitions throughout his career, most recently in 2020 when he was appointed to the Order of British Columbia.
Genome BC is also pleased to announce Dr. Kausar N. Samli as the new Chair and Dr. Judi Beck as Vice Chair of the Board of Directors. These appointments are a testament to the depth and breadth of our board across the field of genomics. Dr. Samli, a visionary in the commercialization of emerging technologies, brings a wealth of scientific acumen and business insight to the helm. Dr. Beck, an authority in forestry and genomics, offers a deep understanding of sustainable practices essential for our future endeavours.

We would like to express our deepest appreciation to Dr. Margaret (Peggy) Johnston, who will continue to share her invaluable wisdom as the Past Chair. After serving two years as Chair and seven years of dedicated service and leadership on our board, her contributions have been considerable. We are privileged to have her continue to guide us.
