Kausar Samli Executive, Expert, Consultant

Dr. Kausar Samli is an applied-technologies commercialization executive. His engagements span industries (including biotech, quantum computing, and blockchain), non-profit organizations, and academia. As a thought-leader, internationalist, and entrepreneur he leads and advises teams on strategy, technology commercialization, and organizational development. Living in Asia, the Middle East, Europe and North America significantly shaped Dr. Samli’s global perspective. A key theme of his efforts includes democratizing enabling technologies through the intersection of academia, industry, and government.

Dr. Samli served as SVP Global Services for Learning Machine. Post-acquisition by Hyland, he continues to serve as Head of Global Services for Hyland Credentials. Dr. Samli previously served as COO at 1QBit, a quantum computing software company developing hardware-agnostic platforms and services for applications in machine learning, optimization, and simulation. He also served as CEO at Lectenz Bio, a biotech company developing novel biomarker detection technologies and products using high performance computing and protein engineering. Additionally, in service to communities he is a Horizon 2020 Expert for the European Commission, an investigator for Creative Destruction Labs (West), an external reviewer for Innovate BC, and a member of Singularity University’s Faculty. He serves on the Board of Directors of Genome BC, Lectenz Bio, and Women@TheFrontier, and on the Board of Advisors of the Aubrey Daniels Institute.

Dr. Samli also has a unique blend of scientific expertise in cell-specific targeting, high-throughput screening, molecular evolution, protein engineering, and computational chemistry. He was the recipient of a Marie Curie Fellowship and is a co-inventor on issued and pending patents. Dr. Samli’s research has been published and presented at international conferences. He holds a Ph.D. in biochemistry, molecular biology, and computational chemistry from the University of Georgia, a M.S. in chemistry from Arizona State University, and a B.S. in biochemistry from the University of Texas at Austin. He attended Singularity University’s Global Solutions Program specializing in technology entrepreneurship and global grand challenges and has co-founded multiple start-ups.

Dr. Samli and his family make their home in the Pacific Northwest. They enjoy exploring the Cascadian mountains and forests under the trusted guardianship of their dogs. Most of all, they delight in discovering the world anew through their children’s eyes.
