Tim Murphy brings over 30 years of senior executive leadership in Canada’s health care sector, with deep expertise spanning health research, innovation, and system transformation.
Most recently, Tim served as Vice President, Health at Alberta Innovates, where he led strategic initiatives in health research and innovation. He subsequently established Tim Murphy Consulting, providing strategic advisory and executive coaching services to organizations navigating health research commercialization and innovation ecosystems.
Tim’s career reflects a commitment to advancing clinical excellence and strategic innovation in healthcare. He was the inaugural Senior Vice President at the Michael Smith Foundation for Health Research, where he helped shape the foundation’s strategic direction. Prior to this, he spent a decade in senior management roles at two of Canada’s leading comprehensive academic oncology centres: Princess Margaret Hospital and the British Columbia Cancer Agency. He has also provided independent consulting services to prominent organizations including the Institute for Health System Transformation and Sustainability, the CH.I.L.D. Foundation and Movember.
Tim holds a Master of Health Administration from the University of Toronto, an MBA from Queen’s University and is a Chartered Professional Accountant. In recognition of his contributions to advancing health care innovation, he was named Digital Health Canada’s Digital Health Executive of the Year in 2023.
