Michelle Crown brings several years of scientific research and management experience in the field of salmon genomics to Genome BC. She is devoted to supporting meaningful partnerships that will bring innovative genomic solutions to solve contemporary challenges faced by the fisheries and aquaculture sector.

Before joining Genome BC, she has worked for the Centre for Aquatic Biotechnology Regulatory Research at Department of Fisheries and Oceans Canada, Pacific Salmon Foundation, as well as previous experience in academia, aquaculture industry, and the pharmaceutical industry.

Michelle is a PhD Candidate in Molecular Biology and Biochemistry from Simon Fraser University. Her graduate work includes characterizing the genomic signatures of survival and resiliency of Pacific coho salmon during a marine heatwave. Michelle holds a MSc in Cell and Developmental Biology from University of British Columbia, and a BScH SSP in Biochemistry from Queen’s University.
