Dr. Christopher Smendziuk experience has included roles at Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre, BC Children’s Hospital Research Institute, and in private industry, where he worked on projects including next generation sequencing and gene editing. At Genome BC, he collaborates with research teams throughout the life cycle of projects in the Agrifood and Natural Resources portfolio.
Christopher holds a PhD in Cell and Developmental Biology from the University of British Columbia focused on stem cell regulation. Prior to that, he received a BSc in Biology and Political Science from McGill University.
Throughout his life, he’s developed a great appreciation for the importance of effective communication and public outreach in advancing science. He strongly believes that access and equity are essential to realizing the benefits of genomics for everyone.
