entrepreneurship@UBC (e@UBC)’s Lab2Launch supports the next generation of science-based entrepreneurs in developing viable, transformative ventures built around UBC research innovation. The design of the program enables UBC researchers to step out of their technical comfort zone and, with the guidance of our venture-centric programming anchored by deep mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs, enables them to investigate, validate and deploy a multi-faceted startup business that will launch their innovations as commercially viable products and services.
For the 2023 – 2024 year, e@UBC achieved the following:
Received $9.3M private investment for Lab2Launch Ventures
Received 32 venture applicants and accepted 23 ventures for the Lab2Launch cohorts
Supported 55 up-and-coming entrepreneurs and 21 FTEs who are not part of the founding team.
Collaborated with the School of Biomedical Engineering, the Sauder School of Business and the Institute for Computing, Information and Cognitive Systems.
Established the Pacific Hub of the pan-Canadian, university-led Lab2Market Program in collaboration with SFU Venture Labs.
entrepreneurship@UBC has merged with the UBC University Liaison Office to become Innovation UBC in September 2024. Moving forward e@UBC will only support UBC-IP Research entrepreneurs.
