The bioinformatics platform at Canada’s Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre (GSC) is at the forefront of genomics research and collaboration. It has made seminal contributions to numerous fields and has established itself among the leaders in genome technology applications by providing an open-platform that works with the scientific community to provide access to bioinformatics expertise and infrastructure. Along with bioinformatics, the other components that can be considered to constitute the genomics technology platform at the GSC are clone mapping, gene expression, genome variation detection, and DNA sequencing, all linked together by operational support and connected to projects through project managers.
