The Metabolomics Innovation Centre (TMIC) was launched in 2011 as a Genome Canada Science and Technology Innovation Centre. TMIC now serves as Canada’s national metabolomics laboratory and is mandated to provide Canadian scientists and trainees with access to comprehensive, cutting-edge metabolomic services and technologies. TMIC is a distributed core facility that currently consists of 4 nodes located in 2 Canadian universities: the University of Alberta (Alberta) and the University of Victoria (British Columbia).

TMIC’s key strengths are: 1) its ability to perform quantitative metabolomics on a wide range of matrices (biofluids, tissues, plants, microbes, water, air, soil); 2) its world-class informatics capabilities and database tools; 3) its capacity to innovate and perform translational technology development and 4) its ability to perform metabolomic measurements and analyses for a wide range of health, agriculture, environment, wildlife, fishery and forestry applications.
