Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is the leading cause of death and disability in children and young adults in Canada, but no new diagnostic tests or treatments have been proven to improve the outcome in TBI. This platform, linking current and planned biobanks to a central state-of-the art neuroscience database at the Ontario Brain Institute will enable molecular biomarker research to bridge the gap between the bench and the bedside and improve the quality of care and outcomes in patients with TBI. It also positions Canadian scientists to lead groundbreaking neuroscience research as part of the International Initiative for TBI Research.
