Vancouver, BC- Genome British Columbia (Genome BC) and the Sumas Regional Consortium for High Tech (SRCTec) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in an effort to collectively advance their goals of entrepreneurship and commercialization. Both organizations focus on accelerating technology innovation through to commercialization – from great idea to tangible product.
Genome BC is the catalyst for research and the application of genomics in BC. The organization brings together research partners and co-investors from industry, government and academia and supports world-class innovation that is relevant to BC’s key socio-economic sectors, attracts co-investment and engagement from other organizations, and maintains partnerships with a broad cross-section of provincial research institutions.
“Strong linkages with SRCTec is a natural fit for us,” says Dr. Alan Winter, President & CEO of Genome BC. “The Sumas Region is an area of significant innovation and economic importance and their work fits in with our broader sector and organization goals.”
SRCTec is dedicated to fostering and promoting a positive climate for technology businesses and their future investment in the region. SRCTec invests in education, research, and a technically skilled workforce. To ensure success the organization has developed a business incubation facility to support start-up technology innovators through business facilitation, technology transfer and entrepreneur services to create new companies, commercialize new technologies, generate jobs and develop local economies in the Sumas Region.

Future goals through the MOU include funding joint project initiatives and linkages for entrepreneurial support.
