Vancouver, BC- Genome British Columbia (Genome BC) is partnering with INTERFACE Health to enhance engagement with digital health innovators and local stakeholders. As a partner in this year’s INTERFACE Health X Challenge, Genome BC will help discover one of the world’s TOP 10 digital health innovators and will have an opportunity to guide innovations through the continuum of healthcare to commercialization.
Genome BC is keenly focused on the development of genomic solutions and the translation of these solutions into commercially viable tools. INTERFACE Health will bring together partners across the health and digital space to help generate solutions to improve the health and wellness of Canadians. Other partners include Telus, Telus Health, the Providence Healthcare Research Institute, Lumira Capital and NRC-IRAP.
INTERFACE Health is a platform and community that cares about innovators, the future of health and about making a difference in the world. It is the brainchild of SANOTRON, Canada’s Centre for Wireless and Digital Health Innovation, a not-for-profit organization and Canada’s 1st digital health accelerator. INTERFACE Health offers an integrated multi-platform consisting of an annual global competition, a professional and social network and an annual digital health summit.
“Investing dollars in digital health is a logical step for Genome BC,” says Dr. Alan Winter, President & CEO of Genome BC. “Digital interpretation plays a vital role in the application of genomics and we are pleased to be joining other forward-looking groups in supporting INTERFACE Health.”
The caché of INTERFACE Health continues to grow attracting international speakers and attendees. Its intent is to connect different silos of health care, life sciences, technology, design, social media and business to create digital health solutions. Past summits attracted world class speakers like Sonny Vu, CEO of Misfit Wearables, Arna Ionescu, VP User Experience of Proteus Digital Health, and Dr, Gautam Gulati, Chief Innovation Officer at Physicians Interactive to name a few.
“Genome BC is a trusted strategic partner, who understands the value of connecting the discovery, innovation and commercialization networks in our province, “ says Michael Bidu, Co-founder and CEO of INTERFACE Health Society. “Our partnership to find the world’s best digital health innovators and convince them to do business with BC reflects Genome BC’s commitment to establish BC as one of the world’s leaders in genomics, precision and personalized medicine, and preventative healthcare.”
Past INTERFACE Health Summits attracted world-class entrepreneurs such as Charles Michael Yim, Founder and CEO of Breathometer, who won “The Best Story” Award in 2014 and competed against 2,000 other entrepreneurs from 100 countries to win Richard Branson’s Extreme Tech Challenge.
