SUMMARY:Genome BC's 2023 Annual Genomics Forum: Beyond the Promise: Maximizing Value for Patients
DESCRIPTION:Precision health care promises to target the right treatments to the right patients at the right time. And while genomics technologies have been used to effectively treat patients in health research for decades\, thereby revolutionizing patient care\, there are areas where these transformational technologies have not yet had a major impact. \nJoin Genome BC on May 3\, 2023\, this year’s Annual Genomics Forum as we discuss the power and hurdles of integrating genomics into patient management and how we can ensure maximum value is derived from samples and patient data.

SUMMARY:Genome BC's 2021 Annual Genomics Forum: COVID-19 - A Moment of Importance for Genomics
DESCRIPTION:Genomics has played an important role in the battle against COVID-19. Scientists around the world have brought forward a herculean effort to manage the outbreak and bring an end to the pandemic. Early sequencing of the virus and data sharing has led to improved surveillance\, tracking transmission of the virus and its variants\, in real-time. New vaccines employ an mRNA sequence\, a technology years in the making. The past year has also given rise to many challenges including an increasing amount of misinformation and mistrust in science.

SUMMARY:17th Annual Genomics Forum "Cannabis: Cultivating Knowledge\, Growing Innovation"
DESCRIPTION:Canada’s legalization of cannabis has heightened the need to understand more about the properties and applications of cannabinoids spurring an expanded interest in cannabis research and development. After decades of prohibition\, there is still much to learn about cannabis compared to other botanicals. Legalization introduces a whole new spectrum of cannabis opportunities beyond medical applications creating an urgent need for research to address gaps in knowledge on the effects and safety of cannabis as a whole — important areas of research that will help drive cannabis regulation.Genomics can aid in the area of cannabis research for enhanced production efficiency\, the creation of precision-designed varieties of cannabis capable of producing specific benefits\, and help understand individual variability in cannabis response. The Forum will also help explore the unique opportunity BC and Canada have to lead the world around research and application of genomic technologies in the Cannabis industry.Genome BC is pleased to invite you to attend our 17th Annual Genomics Forum “Cannabis: Cultivating Knowledge\, Growing Innovation.” Discussion at this year’s forum will examine topical issues surrounding cannabis under four unique areas:\n\nHuman Health: Genomics & Response to Cannabis\nCannabis Plant Genomics & Agrifood Sector\nRegulatory\, Legal\, & Ethical Aspects of Cannabis \nCommercial Opportunities\n\nJoin us. We look forward to your participation in a day of thought-provoking discussion with some of BC’s most engaged life and social sciences researchers\, government leaders\, and emerging industry partners.\nWe encourage you to share this invite with your colleagues\, partners or members of your team who might benefit from the discussion\, networking and collaboration opportunities. Seating is available on a first come\, first served basis. This is a no-cost event. As we are providing breakfast and lunch\, we ask that you only register if you are committed to attend. If you do register and are unable to attend\, please contact us in advance so we can adjust catering and/or extend space to others.  The agenda is available here. \n\nPLEASE NOTE:  Entry to the SBN Poster Contest is now closed
