Genome BC was pleased to present Anneke Seller at its most recent Genomics Forum. Anneke was one of four international speakers who brought their unique perspective to some of the most pressing challenges facing the integration of genomics into clinical health care settings. In addition to her presentation at the forum, we interviewed Anneke and asked her to share her experience in bringing genomics education to health practitioners in the UK.
Anneke Seller is the Scientific Director and Head of Health Education England’s Genomics Education Programme (GEP). For the majority of her career she has been a Consultant Clinical Scientist in Molecular Genetics and Fellow of the Royal College of Pathologists, having established the Molecular Genetics Diagnostic Laboratories at the Oxford University Hospitals NHS Trust, and later on becoming the Director of the integrated Regional Genetics Laboratories in the Trust.
Throughout her career she has had a long-standing interest in training and education, in particular developing formal training programmes and curricula for healthcare scientists in genetics and genomics. As full time Director of the GEP she is now providing strategic and scientific leadership across the breadth of the Genomics Education Programme for the NHS workforce in England.
