In over 40 years working with the academic research community, Janet Halliwell has made seminal contributions to the evolution of funding programs, research management and S&T policy in Canada. She has played a leadership role in the design and implementation of innovative new programming in her work with each of the federal funding agencies and has championed inter-agency collaboration. Halliwell, a former Genome BC Board Member, currently sits on the board of the Canadian Research Data Centre Network (CRDCN). Halliwell also served as executive vice president at the Social Sciences and Humanities Research Council (SSHRC) from 2000 to 2007 and has chaired the Science Council of Canada and the Nova Scotia Council on Higher Education.
