A 20 year anniversary marks an important milestone for any company. For Genome BC, it provides a wonderful opportunity to look back on the growth and impacts of BC’s life sciences’ ecosystem, our contributions to this success; as well as the relationships we’ve built with partners, staff and the community. It also provides a great opportunity to look forward to what the future holds as we embark on our 2020-2023 strategic plan. More information about this plan will be shared in the coming weeks.
With this plan, Genome BC builds upon its achievements in order to deliver a future where genomics positively impacts our daily lives, transforms our health care, and offers practical solutions for humanity’s biggest challenges, such as climate change, food security, and environmental protection. The result is the effective translation of genomics to benefit the people of British Columbia and beyond.
Employees and partners have always been Genome BC’s lifeblood, and our success can always be attributed to the hard work and dedication of our team, past, present and future. Genome BC has a unique and dynamic culture that continues to evolve and thrive. In 2020, we will celebrate and continue to build on our culture of innovation, embracing our commitment to equity, diversity and inclusion while empowering our people to purposefully live the values we hold true.
We look forward to celebrating our 20 years in exciting ways throughout the coming months. On April 30th, our academic partners and other members of the life sciences community can look forward to Genome BC’s Annual Genomics Forum which will be held at the Vancouver Trade and Convention Centre. This year, our program will explore the fascinating world of artificial intelligence and machine learning applications in the context of life sciences.
In the fall, we will host our 11th Annual Don Rix Distinguished Keynote Address. Over the years, this popular event has captured the hearts and minds of the community, while enhancing the understanding and value of genomics and science for our generation and many more to come. Once again, this year’s event promises to be thought provoking and engaging.
20 years is an exciting milestone. We invite you to both celebrate, and work with us, as we continue to drive the responsible adoption of genomics for the betterment of BC and its citizens.
