Genetic testing in fetuses can be invasive, and potentially risky, although a new test may change this. Researchers from Baylor College of Medicine have created a test that looks at 30 genes associates with dominant genetic diseases. This blood test will likely be administered after an ultrasound has shown the fetus to have a skeletal abnormality, and then be followed up by genetic counselling. While still in the testing phase, this new test is showing great promise.
