Rich Howlett joined Genome BC in 2006 following five years as a faculty member in the Faculty of Medicine at the University of California - San Diego.
 
Prior to assuming his current role, Rich worked in the Program Management Office at Genome BC, where he worked with seven of the current large-scale Applied Human Health and Competition III projects. He has been active in helping to develop new projects and partnering opportunities and is on several external steering committees.

Dr. Howlett received his undergraduate degree from UBC, an MSc from Arizona State and a PhD in Biophysics from the University of Guelph. He was an NSERC postdoctoral fellow and his area of interest is physiology, primarily skeletal muscle metabolism.
