Dr. Orit Segev joined the project management office at Genome BC in February 2009 as a Research Program Manager, working closely with project teams that were awarded Genome Canada and/or Genome BC research funds in various competitions. Prior to moving to Vancouver, Orit headed various biotechnology divisions as well as academic laboratories and has a strong background in all areas pertaining to strategic operations and research opportunities.

Orit holds a PhD in Oncogene Regulation from the Technion Institute in Israel. She then worked as a post-doctoral researcher at the MRC, London, England and continued this line of research at WITS University, Johannesburg, SA, as a lecturer and head of a research lab.
 
In 1996, Orit returned to Israel to work in the biotech industry on gene discovery, animal models for various genetic disorders and drug validation studies.
