Dr. Ágnes Baross is a Research Program Manager at Genome British Columbia, working closely with project teams that were awarded Genome Canada and Genome BC research funds in various competitions. Dr. Baross has several years of scientific research and management experience in the field of genetics and genomics. She completed a post doctoral research fellowship at the Terry Fox Laboratory of the British Columbia Cancer Agency, and subsequently worked as a Staff Scientist at Canada's Michael Smith Genome Sciences Centre. Her research focused on exploring the relationships between genome stability, gene expression and human disease. She developed and applied genomics technologies for various research projects, including studies of cancer genomes with the goal of identifying novel genes and pathways involved in malignant transformation and tumor progression.
Dr. Baross holds a BSc degree in Chemical Engineering, a MSc degree in Bioengineering and a Bioengineering Teacher's Certificate from the Technical University of Budapest, Hungary. She obtained her PhD in Genetics from the University of British Columbia.
