Overview
Strengthening the critical path from discovery to application
Genome BC works with numerous world-class partners to translate genomics discoveries into applications for use in key economic sectors in BC and elsewhere – health, agriculture, bioenergy, fish & fisheries, forestry, mining and environment.
Our primary aim is to catalyze strategic partnerships between end-users, researchers, research institutes and funders. The resulting collaborations are expected to create new funding programs and investment opportunities focused on translating innovations into applications.
To date (as of November 2011), we’ve invested over $550 million in genomics research and technology – including $50 million towards the creation of state-of-the-art enabling technologies – and expect to invest another $340 million within the next five years. This funding is targeted across basic, translational, and pre-commercial research and development.
Our funded projects have attracted over 100 national and international co-funders, including major research institutions, world-class pharmaceutical and biotechnology companies and philanthropic organizations.
We are always seeking new partnerships and alliances. Please contact us to explore opportunities.
