Investors
Genome BC has three primary investors:
- Government of British Columbia: The province is our lead investor. While we are primarily affiliated with the Ministry of Small Business, Technology, and Economic Development, our funded research has connections to other ministries and organizations focused on our key sectors: health, agriculture, bioenergy, fish & fisheries, forestry, mining, and environment. We also work closely with the Ministries of Education (Genome BC’s education programs) and Advanced Education (research institution funding).
- Genome Canada: Genome Canada is a not-for-profit organization established in February 2000 by the Government of Canada with a mandate to develop and implement a national strategy for supporting large-scale genomics and proteomics research projects, for the benefit of all Canadians.
- Western Economic Diversification Canada: Western Economic Diversification Canada (WD) works to strengthen western innovation, business development and entrepreneurship, and community economic development. WD has funded 10 separate projects with Genome BC, primarily enabling technologies and commercialization projects.
