Competition II
Competition II
Genome Canada announced their second national competition in July 2001 with a similar application process to Competition I. The projects were awarded to a variety of disciplines but the health and welfare of Canadians continued as a common theme of great importance. The funds awarded in this competition helped further establish the basis for long term success in genomics research in British Columbia.
Approximately 50 percent of Genome BC funding was from Genome Canada. The remainder of the funding was secured from the province of British Columbia and other sources such as Western Economic Diversification Canada, the private sector and international organizations.
Projects co-funded and managed by Genome BC through this competition include:
- Bioinformatics of Mammalian Gene Expression
- Expression Profiles of Cells and Tissues in C. elegans
- Comparative and Functional Genomics of the Human Pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans
- A Quantitative & Comprehensive Atlas of Gene Expression in Mouse Development
- Functional Pathogenomics of Mucosal Immunity
- Democracy, Ethics and Genomics: Consultation, Deliberation, and Modeling
