Applied Genomics Innovation Program (AGIP)
Applied Genomics Innovation Program
The Applied Genomics Innovation Program (AGIP) is a $40 million program with an initial investment of up to $11 million from Genome BC. The program focuses on achieving practical applications within three to five years and is expected to support both small ($100,000s) and large scale ($millions) research projects that have the potential for application within two years of project completion.
On April 29, 2008 a total of nine projects were awarded a combined $24.4 million from Genome BC and other co-funders. These projects include:
- Apis mellifera Proteomics of Innate Resistance
- Development of Genomic Tools for Monitoring and Improving Passive Mitigation of Mine Drainage
- Development of a Molecular-based Probe Test for Assessment of Fecundity of P.persimilis Populations
- Genomic Approaches to Microbial Community Monitoring as a Forest Management Tool
- Genomics in Lice and Salmon (GiLS)
- Genomic Studies of Explosives Biodegradation
- Genomics Tools for Fisheries Management (FishMan Omics)
- Optimizing Ethanol Fermentation from Mountain Pine Beetle Killed Lodgepole Pine
- Optimized Populus Feedstocks and Novel Enzyme Systems for a British Columbia Bioenergy Sector
