Paul
Wood is an Associate Professor in the Faculty
of Forestry at the University of BC. He
is also a Faculty Associate at UBC's Institute
for Resources, Environment and Sustainability,
and a member of UBC's Centre for Applied
Conservation Research. Paul is a Registered
Professional Biologist (RPBio) and a Registered
Professional Forester (RPF) and has a PhD
in interdisciplinary studies which focused
primarily on the philosophy of ethics and
on political theory.
Paul
has extensive forest management experience,
having worked for many years with the provincial
government and in private forestry consulting
before turning to academia, first at the
University of Toronto and then at UBC. He
takes an interdisciplinary approach to both
teaching and research by incorporating his
background in biology, forestry, and philosophy.
He
is the author of an award-winning book,
Biodiversity and Democracy: Rethinking Society
and Nature UBC Press (2000).
