Full Day Workshops

We partner with local post secondary campuses to offer a day on campus for you and your students.

A kayaker is found dead on the trail…was it an accident or was he murdered?
You tell us!

Students use genetic and molecular biology techniques to solve a murder mystery, CSI-style! It provides a great introduction and practical experience to genetics and molecular biology lab techniques.  Examples of activities included in this workshop:  blood typing, fingerprint analysis, DNA extraction, gel electrophoresis.  Plus, the students must solve the crime independently, reinforcing the idea that science is discovery and analysis.

We must limit this workshop for grade 9 to 12 classes. The workshop generally runs from 9am to 3pm, but time changes can be made when necessary. Alternatively, a three hour workshop is available for grade 12 classes; the students learn and experience the same techniques but in less detail.

See the schedule to determine when we are in your area.
