Genome BC Foundation
Strengthening genomics education in BC
Established in 2003, the Genome BC Foundation was created to promote education in the life sciences.
Our goals include creating opportunities for the public to learn about the relevance and impact of genomics research. We also provide hands-on, experiential learning for high school students across BC, improving access to genomics education, and encouraging more students to pursue careers in genomics-related fields. We’re also working towards enhancing interactions between genomics scientists and the public, students and educators.
We support genomics education by:
- creating opportunities to empower educators, students, and the public with accurate information about genome sciences, so they can learn more about the relevance and impacts of genomics research
- providing hands on, in-class activities that allow students to see, feel and experience research in the life sciences
- providing the stimulus and funding for initiatives that lead to enhanced learning experiences across the life science
