Education Overview

We’re in the midst of a revolution in biology. A time when discoveries in the field of genomics, or molecular biology, are occurring at an astonishing speed and technological innovation is allowing us to understand living organisms at a level unimaginable even a decade ago.

Genome BC is working to develop and sustain an education program that informs British Columbians about the science and wonder of genomics and gives them tools to discuss the implications of research.

This section of the website has resources to explore the genomics and other related life sciences:

Free classroom activities: We provide ready to use animations, articles, and hands-on activities. Each resource comes with an introductory page to help teachers use it in the classroom.

Outreach programs: Our popular hands-on in-person workshops inspire students in every region of BC.

  • Classroom visits: We provide high quality entertaining and free presentations.  Please check out our plans for 2012/2013
    • We have travelling programs that go across BC based from Vancouver and a satellite office in Prince George. Click here for more information about Geneskool North!
  • Our travelling exhibitions are suitcases filled with interesting and educational material that is sent to you for free.

Activities: try fun activities at home or online

Articles: A collection of articles to introduce you to the science and impacts of genomics.
